Why You Running?

One of the areas where I struggled the most in my walk was in trusting God after I would fall as a baby in Christ. It's crazy because before Christ I would sin and I would feel nothing from it, but after accepting Jesus, sinning made me feel something different. I now felt sorrow. My response to this new feeling was to run, yet, what was I running from and why?

If I'm grown and I have options to choose from, why am I running?

I realized I ran, because I felt this overwhelming sense of failure and that overwhelming sense of failure was against God. I felt like I failed Jesus. Then I grew up in the Word and began to walk in the reassurance of grace and mercy that covers me during these momentary hiccups we encounter along the way to righteousness, when through the word and spirit of God we are being made new. Pay attention to the part of “being made new.” I encourage you that the greatest shame you will ever endure “isn’t” running to the Cross.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us in this ~ “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

I memorized this scripture 28 years ago but only realized that I had read it on the surface for many years and discovered that this goes deeper.

What do I mean?

We are to acknowledge God in all our ways. As people, we have a thing with strutting our strengths, yet we lack vulnerability and humility to confess where we are weak. So, this is where God’s word and intentions for you become practical by faith in self-examination posing these questions

  •  What are your weaknesses?

  • Are you aware you even have weaknesses?

I ask this because sin will have us believe that our weaknesses are strengths. Our flesh understanding tells us to run from the new spiritual examination our soul desires righteously in spirit and so our journey and war begins.

Through the word and our prayer life, we will have the guidance and support of the Holy Spirit who will search the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts. If led by the Holy Spirit this will enhance our prayer life, our confessions of sin and will help us build relationship with God’s voice. Look, we want Jesus, but many of us are still working out those details, but I know by faith in believing in Jesus, He has the answer to what we need to do to “obtain” the details and make them practical, so we stop running from him and stay running to him.

James 1:5-6 ~ If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him.

This passage encourages us that God knows when we don’t.

Philippians 4:6-7

Until Next Time Beloved, Read the Word to Know Him!
