Psalm 107: 1-6 ~ Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story, those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
The decision to want to heal must go into the room with some parts that might not want to let go, and how much more not even do the work past making the decision.
I give God glory for those of us in the body of Christ that have been able to overcome their past, you are free, you are healed! I praise the Lord in the same breath for the ones He is close to because He knows that even while they believe in Christ by faith, their hearts are still broken, and their spirits still feel crushed; and they press in for the upward call in Christ Jesus! Choosing to let God touch us in ways that no one else can, can be scary and intimidating.
Why?
Mostly because God is in it for the long haul, while we may start out well with making the decision, some of us find we may give up on the race a quarter of a mile in. The fact that He wants to open us up and take a deeper look can be a refreshing thought, He is our High Physician, but at the same time adversity will show up.
There will be a fork in the road put towards the decision to heal. On one hand the rationalization that a band-aid was placed on that wound years ago, why would God want to come and rip it off? Yet, on the other hand the band-aid yes is there, but the wound has been hurting for quite some time. For some the wound is oozing and will take a bit of time to recover from the cleansing while, some may just need a little mending.
Trusting God to say, hey, tell me your story, tell me what happened to you, is profound. Honestly, He is a good listener. Furthermore, being encouraged that He is close to the brokenhearted, and whose spirits have been crushed is even more assurance, (Psalm 34:18). I am once again reminded in spirit that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose, (Romans 8:28). That is another reassurance that His purpose is to heal. (Psalm 107).
By faith I pray we invite the Lord in, and by faith I pray we hold His hand tight and let Him walk around in our hearts. I pray we learn how to surrender to His will, and while sorrow may last for the night, may we be strengthened to rely on the one that says, “my grace is sufficient enough for you and my power will be made perfect in your weakness.”, (2 Corinthians 12:9). May the Lord teach us all how to sacrifice even our healing to be healed in our spirits and in our souls. Amen!
